Job Description

The primary role of the Development Director is to strengthen CALSEIA's efforts to put solar energy in the hands of all Californians through successful fundraising, event management, and effective communications.

The Development Director will spearhead CALSEIA's development efforts and coordinate all aspects of CALSEIA's varied events throughout the year, as well as manage the association's communications including social media, weekly newsletters, general emails, and its website.

The Development Director reports directly to the Executive Director, and works closely with the Board of Directors, events committee, event coordinators (under contract), as well as other CALSEIA staff.

Position Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute CALSEIA's development strategy.
  • Work with ED on special fundraising efforts and campaigns.


  • Manage all of CALSEIA's events
    • Work with staff and events committee on overall design/goals
    • Meet sponsorship sales goals
    • Promotions & Recruitment/Ticket Sales
    • Design Materials/Visuals/Etc.
    • Bottom-line run-of-show management
  • In conjunction with administrative staff, ensure administrative tasks related to events are completed accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Update event details on website and in other functional systems and prepare accurate and insightful analytical reports for the ED and Board of Directors to assess and evaluate event oriented activities.


  • Produce and designs promotional materials, including CALSEIA's Weekly Newsletter, the Annual Report, and events invitations.
  • Along with Membership Coordinator, represent CALSEIA and conduct in-person outreach at events, one-on-one meetings and other opportunities including conferences, meetings and seminars.
  • Manage website, ensuring all information displayed online is up-to-date.


  • Stay current with CALSEIA program offerings. Participate in weekly staff calls.
  • Attend all board and staff meetings
  • Other misc. office duties as appropriate for a team-oriented organization


The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  • 4-5 years of fundraising and event management experience.

The primary goal of CALSEIA’s Energy Storage Policy Advocate is to animate markets for customer-sited energy storage in California with state-level policy development. The advocate will represent distributed energy resource providers at the California Public Utilities Commission, the California Legislature, and other venues. 

The Energy Storage Policy Advocate reports to the Policy Director, and works closely with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and the Storage and Policy Committees, as well as other CALSEIA staff.  The position can be based in either the Bay Area or Sacramento.

Solarcentury is looking for an experienced engineering sales professional to join our international team and become the first employee in the US.

During 2016 we launched Sunstation - our roof integrated solar PV module. Sunstation has been launched in the UK, Netherlands and France and is already selling well in the retro fit and new build sectors.

In its first year Sunstation has been recognised internationally, having been awarded the IF Design Award for Innovation in Construction.

This new BIPV system puts old-school solar in the shade. Sunstation is set for mass-market thanks to high aesthetic appeal and price competitiveness with quality on-roof systems.

We wish to bring Sunstation to the tile roof market in America in Q1 2017, and are initiating a design variation process for Sunstation to have a certified sheathing and shingle roof solution later in the year.

Initially working on a consultancy basis, you will work from California, with our London-based innovation team. On successful certification of Sunstation for the US market, and assuming BDM fulfils probation requirements, the consultancy contract will transfer to a full employment contract with associated benefits.

Key activities and responsibilities:

You will be the key in-country contact for liaison with US solar, electrical and building certification and test organisations to ensure that Sunstation is available for sale in early 2017.

Working with our innovation team you will help take Sunstation through successful product testing and during this period bring Sunstation to the attention of key solar distributers and volume installation businesses in target markets.

The Group Leader of Technical Support National is a member of the Solar Energy management team. The Group Leader, along with other duties, has three major areas of focus: the First and most important is customer support.
