Commercial Solar Sales Manager, California Solar Electric Company

Job Description: We are looking for a friendly commercial sales manager to navigate our clients through the process of purchasing their electricity from a more competitive source. The person filling this position will be a self-starting, creative and motivated individual who has a proven history of successfully developing solar projects. Working from our Grass Valley, California office, this position is responsible for lead development, qualification, solution design, procuring financing through developed channels, sales presentations and closing solar projects throughout Nevada, Placer and Yuba counties. The Commercial Sales consultant works closely with installation leads and internal project management teams to drive growth for projects from 20kW to 500kW. Solar sales experience is required for this position. 

The right candidate will possess the following:
2+ years experience in Solar Sales or Design
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Understand the solar incentives, tax environment, financing and energy cost structure
Expertise on new solar industry products, applications, and system designs
Read utility bills and determine electrical needs to design and size a solar array
Advanced understanding of commercial solar PV system design
Knowledge of jurisdictional requirements for commercial solar PV system design
Basic understanding of NEC code and building standards
General construction experience, i.e. ability to read electrical and structural plans
Ability to understand finance models and select various types of finance packages based on the client’s needs.
NABCEP PV Technical Sales Professional Certification, OSHA 10hr, HIS license eligible

Office Hours will be required. This is not a remote work position. 
Reliable personal vehicle for customer appointments and site visits

Required license or certification: Valid Driver’s License, Clean Driving Record

Professional Requirements:
Develop and qualify leads. Assess and identify customer needs. Prepare and present value based solutions. Close sales and ensure customer expectations are being exceeded.
Assess development opportunities and have the ability to effectively communicate project plans, challenges and necessary outcomes
Maximize our customer’s experience working with internal teams to proactively identify, route and follow up on issues through to their resolution.
Ability to problem solve and proactively research potential concerns or issues
Clear, open and honest communication with customers during/after sale and installation
Build trust and rapport to effectively communicate and interact on a professional level with senior level prospects and customers (i.e. board members, business owners and organizational executives)
Develop and present high quality value based sales presentations using operational and financial (ROI, Payback, etc.) metrics.
Effective communication with engineering contractors, jurisdictions, Project Managers and installation crews
Create achievable customer expectations, coordinating deliverables between customers and our internal team members.
Ability to effectively manage the movement of multiple B2B sales projects through diverse sales cycles and timelines
A strong business, financial acumen required including knowledge of financial concepts, cash flow analysis, deal structuring and a general understanding of business/corporate/nonprofit entities and related tax structures required.
Represent our company through participation in targeted local, regional and professional organizations.
Presenting solar seminars at open houses, trade shows and other educational venues
Awareness of media outlets being accessed by various potential customers/groups to assist the direction of our advertising investments
Identify, propose and collaborate on constant improvement initiatives or procedures that will allow our company to deliver the highest quality service in a cost effective manner.
Respond to all inquiries from all sources in a timely manner

Computer proficiency:
Experience in Windows operating system and software (e.g. Office Suite, G Suite)
Experience with HelioScope™, EnergyToolbase™ Solar sizing and proposal softwares a plus. and satellite imaging software
Diligent updating and maintaining company Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database with new leads, progress on existing leads, appointments scheduled and kept, and other data available that is needed to be tracked on our software.

Salary: Competitive compensation including base salary plus commissions, dependent on experience.
